French and Indian War

The French and Indian War, known in Canada as the War of the Conquest and referred to as many other things by other parts of the world, is specifically a part of the Seven Years War. It was fought from 1754 to 1763 and was the only part of the Seven Years war that was fought in North America. Many people argue that the French and Indian War isn’t a good name for this was as it often confuses many people. However it is important to note why this name was chosen. The name actually is just a reference to the two enemies of the British during the war; the American Indians and their French Forces allies. The French Indian War was the fourth colonial was between Great Britain and France and it ultimately resulted in the conquest of Canada, hence the name that the Canadians have given to it, the War of the Conquest.

There were many different reasons that the French and Indian War occurred. Perhaps one of the most significant reasons is the fact that both Britain and France want to expand their interests in different areas for their economic benefit. They both claimed many different vast areas of land between the Mississippi River and The Appalachian Mountains. This obviously lead to much conflict between the two nations and was one of the main reasons that the French and Indian War ever occurred.

With all of the rich history that goes along with the French and Indian War, its no wonder that so many collectors and history enthusiasts are interested in learning more about this fascinating period in American History. It is also the reason that artifacts and different collector’s pieces from this era have started to become highly collectable and sought after by experienced collectors.
