Gold is one of the most highly desired and prized precious metals in the world due to its rarity and multiple uses. It can be used as jewelry, currency, in surgeries, and is considered one of the safest and purest metals in the world. In addition, rumor has it that gold was one of the main ingredients used in a drink of the gods to bestow and maintain their immortality. Many dentists used gold extensively in the dental work they do and it is often used in different forms of purification processes.

For all of its uses, gold is actually a very soft metal and in some instances the applications it is used is limited. Gold is usually a yellow metal and one of the few elements that have a natural color. A very small amount can be beaten down into a sheet that is very large. For instance, only a single ounce of gold can make a sheet of metal over 300 square feet. In addition, gold bonds to other materials very easily and is often used in alloys to make bonds between certain metals which will not bond together.

Interestingly enough, gold in its purest form has no taste due to being resistant against the metal ions that confers taste. It is considered very dense, and although it is initially soft, it is very easy to work with due to these properties. In some instances, a jeweler can beat down a piece of gold without heating it up. In addition, the melting point of gold is very low, making it easily used but also requiring being reinforced if brought anywhere near heat. It is one of the most difficult precious metals to find and is often seen running in long crags along rock faces.
