Lost Cause of the Confederacy

In the Civil war, it was the North against the South, otherwise known as the Confederates against the Union. In many accounts this war was leaning to the side of the Confederacy due to them not only having more individuals and finances for waging the war, but a firm belief they were correct. However, after the war was fought and the Union won freedom for the slaves, individuals started to claim that it was the circumstances that lost the South the war rather than the tactics and skill of the North and their soldiers.

This is part of how the civil war started to be called the “lost cause of the Confederacy” in writing and over time to people also. Many writers started referring to the civil war and the battle between the union and the confederacy as the Confederacy’s lost cause. There were many writers who spoke of that stakes that the individuals where fighting again and what they had to overcome as well as the pain they had to go to and more.

It has been a constant debate whether or not this is actually factual or if the stakes that they had to fight against where truly able to outnumber them rather than being able to beat them with skills in war such as strength and strategy.  However, this is largely based on bias and is merely an excuse. This is partly why for some the phrase lost cause of the Confederacy is very serious and for others it is somewhat of a joke because of the way that they feel the Confederacy was merely making excuses rather than accepting the situations they had to face. In the end, the war was won due to the actions taken by generals of the Union war decimating provisions and support.
