Mining Procedure Prospecting/Exploration
The search for minerals and precious metals is known as Prospecting and exploration. It is the physical search for these materials, on an organized and large scale that is thought of as exploration and prospecting.
To look for materials on some sort of at least semi scientific effort normally is what is thought of as exploration. As a person or group that is looking for minerals and precious substances, to be considered a prospector you normally have to be registered or licensed in the country in which you are looking.
Being involved in prospecting is an activity that is very physically intensive, it is normally an activity that can be done using machines, but more often it is done on foot, or on horseback or using a mule. Prospecting often can make use of sifting and panning, such as involved in gold panning. You can also become involved in looking at rock formations and outcroppings, looking for signs of ore deposits or veins.
A prospector is a person that normally is ready to make a claim, which is a legal process of marking the property, and making a legal claim using placards, stakes and paper notification that the areas they have discovered materials on is theirs to work and explore.
Different locations and regions in the world involve staking a claim differently, laws and regulations vary in different states of the United States, as well as in different countries around the world.
The methods involved in prospecting involve looking carefully through the countryside, and then investigating areas such as creek beds, ravines, rock formations, and other such promising areas for signs of different minerals and rock formations.
Once the mineral that is being sought is discovered, then it is where possible confirmed by looking at other areas in the same general place. If a rock mineral source is confirmed, then larger scale mining is sought, either by the miner or by a team of miners.
Being a prospector and mineral explorer was an occupation that has not been very successful for most people that tried it in the United States in the 19th and 20th Century.
