For centuries people have always been fascinated with the lost treasures of others which are why Treasure Hunting has been so popular throughout the years. Some magnificent treasures have been merely stumbled upon on land that was very valuable across the globe. The most serious treasure hunters have begun working underwater. This is now possible because of modern technology and more educated equipment, so in a sense, this is more of an untapped area for hunters because these precious treasures were previously inaccessible. The use of satellite imaging and even online maps has given many treasure hunters the global advantage to seek certain points of interest.

This state of the art equipment allows those who have the passion for finding lost treasures an opportunity to conduct extensive research prior to heading off for an expedition. It also allows them to do all of their planning and so forth without having to visit the actual place of interest before the hunt is going to take place. This is a real money saver and also saves a lot of time as well. Further, it also seems to provide a greater level of safety to the hunter by being able to explore the region before entering into something that could very well be too dangerous.

There have been numerous shipwrecks throughout time that have resulted in lost treasures that have never been either recovered or fully recovered. In most developed countries treasure hunting is either illegal or is very restricted. Yet there have been many famous treasure hunters throughout time that have not turned up empty handed such as Captain Martin Bayerle who was able to find the shipwreck of the RMS Republic back in 1981. In 2003 the Odyssey Marine Exploration went under water in a Treasure Hunter mission and uncovered the treasure from the SS Republic which was valued at over $75 million.
