Adam Crum says, “Considering the perilous economic times in which we find ourselves…NOW is the time to buy gold! I am very excited to offer you these new HUGE 2.5 oz. certified gold bullion coins at a deep discounted investment!”
In 1851, a United States Assay Office was established in San Francisco under the direction of Augustus Humbert. Humbert contracted with the firm of Moffat & Company to produce massive eight-sided “ingots” of pure gold.
On the obverse side of the ingot you will find the words “Pure Cal. Gold” directly under the eagle. The ribbon on the obverse side exhibits “999.9 THOUS.” The text on the reverse side states: “Humbert Gold Ingot, Commemorative 2008, Pure California Gold, 2.5 Oz. Troy 999.9 Fine.”
Monaco has teamed up with famed engraver Ron Landis to create the limited production Humbert Commemorative Gold Ingot as a tribute to the original ingots created by Augustus Humbert in 1851 and 1852 San Francisco. These Gem Proof Cameo gold ingots are composed of 2.5 troy ounces of pure 999.9 gold, guaranteed and certified to be from California by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).
They are, in a word, magnificent…especially when you consider that each feather, arrow, shield, ribbon…every detail…has been meticulously recreated by Ron Landis, who may quite possibly be the last of the skilled artisans who hand-engrave master coin dies.
Ron Landis began striking replicas of early U.S. and colonial coins in original alloys from handcrafted dies in 1982. He had acquired an old-time screw press and “got hooked” on the ancient processes of coin-making. With a “period” rolling mill, edge mill, intaglio printing press, bellows and furnace he built himself, he demonstrates the history of coin making using his hand-engraved dies.
I believe that just like the highly collected and actively traded 2.5 ounce $50 Kellogg “Quintuple Eagle” and half-ounce $10 “Horseman” gold coins which were released a few years ago, the Humbert Commemorative Gold Ingot will enjoy similar popularity. Here is why…
These beautiful octagonal gold commemorative ingots are priced less than many of the gold proof coins available on the market and much less than what U.S. Mint gold proof coins are trading for in today's market!
