Many 1870-S issues were also either destroyed or exported overseas. Surviving coins are usually in lower circulated grades with the majority being in AU condition. This issue is moderately scarce lower grades, and well-struck pieces with few bag marks command high premiums. The finest known is graded at only Mint State 63 condition.
