NGC MS - SEVEN HILLS HOARDGordian III's profile appears on the obverse of this coin. He has the distinction of being the youngest Caesar in the history of the Roman Empire. He became Emperor at the age of 13, though the Senate ruled for him for a time. He was the last in the line of Gordian Emperors. His successor, Philip the Arab, may or may not have assassinated him, as there are accounts of Gordian III dying in battle.
