1889-CC MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR
PCGS MS 62 BLAST WHITE1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar is the most coveted issue in the Morgan series. It is the scarcest issue from the Carson City Mint. The mint was closed down for several years, and finally re-opened in late 1889, minting only a total of 350,000 pieces. These newly released Morgan's disappeared into circulation quickly, making uncirculated example very rare and desirable. Not many survive today as many of these 1889 Morgan's were melted by the Mint, and many others were simply lost to the hands of time.
Of the thirteen Carson City Morgan Silver Dollars series, the 1889-CC is by far the rarest, and it is considered to be one of the classic key-dates of the entire series. Very few were saved, and most pieces show evidence of circulation. Uncirculated pieces are rare, with very few coins being graded in Mint Sate condition.
The 1889-CC issue has always been popular for its low-mintage at the Carson City Mint, and is in very high demand. This coin is an absolute beauty with an historic pedigree tied to the Old West. The 1889-CC Morgan is a key date and one of the rarest Morgan Dollar produced by the Carson City Mint, and it would be a crowning achievement to add this coin to any collection.
