1872 SEATED HALF DOLLAR PROOF
NGC PF66This 1872 Proof Seated Liberty Half Dollar is graded NGC PF66. Proof Seated Liberty Half Dollars were struck at the Philadelphia Mint on a regular basis for the first time in 1858 and this practice continued until the end of the series. In 1872 only 950 proofs were minted. This earlier With Motto half is surprisingly challenging to locate in better grades.
This 1872 Half Dollar is Beautifully Toned Premium Gem proof, graded NGC PF66. Deep rose and cobalt-blue hues occupy the obverse, while the reverse toning is more demure, reflective silver-gray in the center with copper-gold and blue at the rims. The proof strike is full throughout, and contact marks are a nonissue on this beautifully toned coin. This is a well-struck example with sharp details with no sign that any of this coin's quality has lapsed since the day it was made. Absolutely Stunning!
