The U.S. Mint’s Capped Bust Dime production was intermittent over the years. Dimes were issued in 1809, 1811, 1814, 1820 to 1825 and 1827 to 1828 in one variety, and from 1828 to 1837 in a second variety. Large quantities were struck in 1820, 1821, 1827, 1835 and 1836. For the series, millions of pieces were minted. Bust dime devotees are numerous, so there is plenty of market support for this segment of U.S. coinage. The Capped Bust Dime series of 1809 to 1837 is a challenging and intriguing series to collect.
